Letter #94 4-25-2016 Gering Nebraska

Hey Everyone!
Congrats on graduating Eric and Rachel!!

Well last Monday was fun, J_ came up from Torrington he was the one in the army and he took us out to eat for lunch.  We had a good time visiting with him, he is a drill instructor in Oklahoma, and asked where Andrew is going to basic training.  There is a pretty good chance that he might be his drill instructor.  So just let me know what base he is going to and I will email Jacob and see if they meet up and if Jacob is his drill instructor, cause that would be pretty fun!  He said if he is Andrews drill instructor he will make him his personal project lol!

Well this week was really good we found a new investigator she was actually a referral from the Wiseman’s in my last area. We stopped by and talked to her and she is very interested, we set an appointment for the next day cause we did not have to much time to visit Friday.   We went back Saturday and talked about the plan of Salvation. The spirit was so strong there and she was super respective with everything.  She came to Church Sunday and she said she just wants to come closer to Christ. So I am excited to teach her.

Also Saturday I got to go do branding again for service with a family here cause it is that time of year again it was a lot of fun I probably helped with like 20-25. But I did get kicked a few times so that was fun haha.

Well my new comp is Elder Navarro from California and it is a blessing the Lord sent him here because we have been needing a Spanish speaking missionary in this area for some of the family's we have been teaching. So we are sent to areas for a reason.

Much Love

Letter #93 4-18-2016 Gering Nebraska

Hey Everyone!
Well it is that time again transfers are tomorrow.  Elder Wilwand is leaving and going to Longmont Colorado. And I am staying for another transfer here so I am happy about that! This is where I will be calling home from on Mother’s Day. And I hope I stay here one more after this transfer and just finish my mission out here cause that would be hard to get sent to an area and be there for one transfer, I would not get to know many people there. So I do hope I finish here. Well my new comp is Elder Navarro he gets here tomorrow.
Well this week was really good. We have been working with a 10 year old boy named E_ for the past two months and he is ready for baptism, but the ward wants support from his mom who is a member.  She is a hard worker and is doing all she can to earn enough money to support her family... work, work, work.. but because of that she is never able to come to church. So the next time we can see her we are going to invite her to come to church or make some time for that, to show her son the importance of coming. The ward does not want E_, in two or three years to just go Less Active which could happen with no support from his parents. So we are going to work with E_ still but try to work with his mom more too.
Well this week we also had exchanges with the Zone Leaders so I went to that area for a day and man there is so much work a Zone Leader has to do, so much extra little things you have to do that is just running the mission and taking care of problems that missionary's have or are causing, and a lot of meetings and very little time to do missionary work.
We also are working with a part member family named the B_ and they are so much fun to see and visit with. This week we talked about the temple open house and inviting them to go to it. They want to but don't know if it will happen or not. So I am thinking when we come back for the Open House of the Temple, there are a few family's I would like to invite to go through with us while we are there cause that would be a lot of fun. 1 to see them again and 2 to go through the temple with them.

Also to end I don't now if you guys remember me talking about F_ and L_ from Laramie but L_ and here daughter are going to Arizona in May like around the 12th but F_ won't make it. She ask if they could stop by and see my family since they would be ones I would take you to meet when I brought you back here. So mom I gave her your phone number so if she still wants to she can get in contact with you and see if there is a time you could meet up.

Well this past weekend was stake conference and I want to share something the stake president shared during conference. So this weekend Elder Evanston came and was staying with our Stake Presidents family and speaking in conference. Elder Evanston and our stake president are avid runners, both have run many marathons. Last year our stake presidents wife ran in the Boston Marathon, it was 30-40 degrees outside and raining the entire time.  While she was running she stepped in a big puddle and got here feet very wet.  But while running she also said how amazing the sites were as she was going by in the race. And our stake president then said if we are always looking down and worrying about our wet feet and the puddles, we will miss looking up through the rain and seeing the Savior.

Now I will add what I got from this, when we look ahead and be positive it is easier to follow the Savior than when we are always looking down.  By looking towards Him we will be able to reach our destination.

Much Love

Letter #92 4-11-2016 Gering, Nebraska

Hey Family!!!

Well this week I was reading over general conference and I really like the one talk  called     “The Greatest Leaders Are the Greatest Followers”.  It is a great talk for all of us to read and follow what it says to us. I like what he said here:

"If I were to ask you, “Who is the greatest leader who ever lived?”--what would you say? The answer, of course, is Jesus Christ.
He sets the perfect example of every imaginable leadership quality.
But what if I were to ask you, “Who is the greatest follower who ever lived?”--wouldn’t the answer again be Jesus Christ? He is the greatest leader because He is the greatest follower--He follows His Father perfectly, in all things.
The world teaches that leaders must be mighty; the Lord teaches that they must be meek. Worldly leaders gain power and influence through their talent, skill, and wealth. Christlike leaders gain power and influence “by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned.”

In God’s eyes, the greatest leaders have always been the greatest followers."
When we follow Jesus Christ we become a better leader when you "Look unto me (Jesus Christ) in every thought; doubt not, fear not."
We no longer care what people or the world thinks of us all we care about is what Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father think.  When we have that faith and trust in our Savior things becoming easy to do and things also become easy say to people when we use the spirit and what he tells us to do.
There is no need to fear or doubt. This is a lot easer said than done, it takes work, it takes learning Christ like attributes and becoming better and better at them in life. We have to be good at following in order to be a good leader just like he said in the talk,
"Your ability to lead does not come from an outgoing personality, motivational skills, or even a talent for public speaking. It comes from your commitment to follow Jesus Christ."
All these things I have said in this letter are hard to do trust me I know haha!! We all are leaders no matter who you are or what you do, you don't have to be a  CEO, PRESIDENT, Captain, Bishop, pope, whatever people think you have to be it is not true. We can be who we are right now in life and be a great leader by being a great follower of Jesus Christ, I love this talk cause it hit me and is so true.

Well this week we had to talk to R_ she is going through a hard time and has some things she is concerned about. We just talked with her about looking towards Christ and focus on Him. And everything will be ok.

Letter #91 4-4-2016 Gering, Nebraska

Hey Everyone!!

Well hope you all enjoyed conference this week. One of my favorite talks was was Elder Waddell, here are some the thinks I got out of his talk.

 - When our mind is on the Savior Jesus Christ we can get through all things and have peace in our lives.

- Just like Peter in the bible when he walked on water he was fine till he looked away and looked at the sea then he fell.  When we do no have our eye single to the glory of God we can sink very fast or if we are not holding on to the iron rod.

- Learn from the Savior

- Then when we learn from Jesus Christ there is no one better to learn from than the one who set the path for us on this earth.
Listen to the Savior / it is our choice to listen...

- We have a choice whether we follow Him or not, we are the ones who let Him into our lives. He loves us and will help us in all things if we accept Him into our lives.

- To walk with the Savior/ is a invitation to be at peace.

I have no time! I have to go so this is what I wanted to write to all of you.

Much love
