Letter #33 2-23-2015 Laramie Wyoming

 Hey Everyone!!!!
Well it is cold here!!!!! Yesterday was 7 degrees with a 7 to 10 mph wind chill and wind makes it 10x worse haha! Well I am in a college town and the stake center is about 10 minutes from our house. We go to another building to have church but this week was stake conference so I am still trying to meet people here in the ward!
Well for every new missionary to this area we go to an older lady's house and you have to sing a solo "Called to Serve" for her. She makes everyone do it and if you dont do it the day you meet her she will have the entire zone over and you will have to do it in front of them... so I sang the first time I met her so just my Companion Elder Corpus heard it. haha
My new companion is Elder Corpus, he has 3 months left on his mission he will be going home May 12th, so he is excited for that and kinda sad at the same time. But he is a cool guy and we have been getting along for the 1st week and I think it will continue cause we both have similar interests. He is from Oregon. So he does not like ASU as much hahaha but that is something we just mess around with.
Well we do have a baptism this Saturday for a woman named J_ and her husband is a member just not active.  But through teaching her he has become more active in the church which is great so that will be fun to see even though I came towards the end of her discussions. But she is making a big change in her life and it will help here and she is very excited for that change.
That is hard to hear about J_ dad. I can tell you from what I have seen while serving as a district leader and having to help an Elder who lost his mom. President asked me to go on exchanges with him and talk with him. All we can do is be there for him and pray for him and let him know he has people that love him. This is one of the reasons for the Atonement, only Christ knows exactly how we feel and that is why we need to lean on Him and let Him lift our burdens. Mom if you could send me his email I would like to write him. Thanks.

Well I love you all and happy birthday dad!!! You have the same birthday as my mission president haha!

Letter #32 2-16-2015 Sterling, Colorado

 Hey Everyone!!!
Thanks to everyone for your letters.  I love reading them they strengthen me as well as my testimony.  I know I have people who love and care about me and are always there for me if I need them... even here in Sterling!

Well speaking of Sterling I am being transferred, and transfers are tomorrow, I am heading to Laramie, Wyoming now! And that place has been known to get snow on July 4th. And the part that will be hard there is not only that it gets cold but along with that it can be very windy there so that will make it even more cold! Well it has been a good 7 months in Sterling and now it is time to go to a new area!

Well this week was a cool week I had a very neat experience. So one night we went over to D_ house to see him. And D_ wanted to talk to me about somethings. He has been working on his mission papers and he just cant see himself going on a mission at all and he wanted to know how it will all work out. So he told me he had been praying and asking for answers to what will happen. And he felt he should read D&C 12 and 14 so he did and he did not understand why he was suppose to read those sections. So he ask me to read them and tell him what I feel they are saying. So I read 12 and 14 and then the Lord took over from there! And I just started to speak and it was like I was not even there it was the Lord in me and I was sitting on the side. And then after I finished D_ was just crying cause as to how powerful the spirit was and then he said, Elder Urry what just happen you just said 3 or 4 things I have not ever told you about me and you were right on the point with them. You called me by my full name and then after that you were not you. So I told D_, what just happen was the Lord said all of that, not me, I had no idea what I was saying, words just were coming and I said them and the Lord was like He was whispering in my ear what to say! Then I said one more thing, I invited him to pray again, but this time to ask for confidence in the Lord and the answers He gives you, do not question just listen to Him! And I promise you things will happen!

So the next day he called and ask to speak to me, and said thanks Elder Urry you were right I prayed last night and now I know I will go on a mission!! I told him dont thank me thank your Heavenly Father He was the one talking yesterday and I was just His mouth peace!

I know things can happen if we are worthy and the Lord can trust us! But we need to have faith in Him for those things to happen. Not only did D_ find something out that night, I did too. That is the wonderful part of the spirit when we teach by it we both can learn from Him. I know that night it was the Lord speaking to D_. I said things that were very bold, that Jeff Urry would not say to someone or Even Elder Urry. I was not talking that night it was the Lord through me!
I love what I do, and I share what I share cause it brings me joy and and I only hope and pray that it will bring joy to someone that reads this!

I love you all and the Lord loves you even more He is the father of our spirits and is always there for you and me, trust me I do know that for a fact. And you dont have to trust me you can go to the Lord and ask Him in faith and He will tell you through the spirit!

Letter #31 2-9-2015 Sterling Colorado

Hey Everyone!!

There have been a lot of challenges these last few months but I love being out here on my mission, it is making me a better person and helping me realize how lucky I am to have the people I have in my life that do care for me and how valuable they really are. We become stronger through trials and tests in life. Even though trials are no fun we are all trying to become better people. The Lord helps us through family, friends and hard times because these things make us stronger.

For example on trials, take when you work out, the muscle first tears and becomes weaker, and then it heals back together and you become stronger. But to keep that you have to keep working out and doing things to keep that strength. We need our spiritual strength and our trainer Jesus Christ knows that we are facing one very heavy max!  And that max is beating Satan and over coming his temptation. We need our scriptures, family, friends to help us through the hard trials. But even in those trials our “spiritual muscles” are being torn.  But there will be a time where the tearing will heal up and make you stronger in life and a better tool for the Lord and a more scary opponent  for the adversary! I know these things are true.

We have a personal trainer named Jesus Christ and He has been through it and knows how to make us stronger cause no one knows you better than Him. So we need to trust in Him when times are hard! Trust me a mission has taught me that a lot! over and over and over! We are here to become like Him and these are some of the best ways! I love my Savior and His Son Jesus Christ, I could not ask for a better example to look up too!
Well Love you all and hope you all have a great week!

Letter #30 2-2-2015 Sterling CO

Hey Everyone!!!
Well tell Andi her favorite uncle said HI!!!!!!

Well this week was very hard.....

And... yes, I did go see a doctor to have an in-grown toe nail removed on my big toe on my right foot. And dad that is not major surgery!! haha

Well this week was a week to learn Charity and the true love of Christ in my life. Because it is easy to love people when they care about you, but when they don't treat you well at all and make you hurt real deep inside, it is very hard to do. We hurt Christ all the time when we mess up and don't listen to Him, and He still love's us. I mean He still love the people who crucified Him on the cross. He loves them so much He asked His father to “forgive them for they know not what they do”. So we need to learn to love people and hopefully one day we will have charity, because the people we show charity to are different when you love them. The Savior has a perfect love for everyone, we are still learning and will always be learning to love like the Savior does. Here is something I was reading on Charity...

"The Lord has identified some of the qualities of a charitable person. If we have charity, we rejoice not in iniquity, but in the truth. We bear all things, believe all things, hope all things, and endure all things. (See Moro. 7:45.) We forgive grudges and offenses, and we control our thoughts."(September 1991).

So to have what Christ had is very hard and we have to work all of our life to have the perfect love of Christ. I know Charity works and when you show it even when it is hard to do, in the hardest of times is when we grow most as a person. Opposition in life is not to make things harder all the time, cause when we face it the right way we will grow more like Christ. And that is our end goal in life is to become like Him.  When things get hard that is when you need to push through and when we are close to quitting that is when we are so close to the finish line. And to us that might not seem close but it is in Christ time and that is not much time!

Well I love you all and hope you have a great week!!
