Letter #77 12-28-2015 Torrington, Wyoming

Hey everyone!!!
Well it was fun talking to all of you on Christmas Day. And Steve if you got married July first I just might have to hurt ya when I get home haha so before June or you wait and extra week haha.  Also Eric you look like you are almost doing the Heisman pose when you are acting as the angel I don't think he did that haha.

Well after we ended the call we had dinner with the family it was really good!!! Then we played Uno and just so y'all know the past 7 times I have played on my mission I have won!! I am the champ at Uno in the mission right now haha. Also that Uno was Elder Pember’s present from them and I got phase 10 from them so we have games to play on p day.

Well the rest of the week was good and just got to see some people and visit with them. But I want to thank all that sent me a letter I will be trying to respond to them all when I have time. I really don't have much to say cause I talked with all of you the other day so talk to you in 2016!!

Much love

Letter #76 12-21-2015 Torrington, Wyoming

Hey Everyone!!
Well we did not have our meeting this last week so I did not get the package from all of you. So it was suppose to be Wednesday and we got a pretty good snow storm and it was about 4-6 inches. That is not the worst I have seen being on my mission but here the wind is what is bad. There have been times were semi trucks will get blown over on the roads so that is why it was canceled for Wednesday and then moved to Friday.
So Friday morning we got up at 5 am and Headed for Laramie. We get there and we have to get onto I-80 from Cheyenne. When we get there we see it is closed so I am like, there is no other way to get there, do the other Elders know about this? A few minutes later we get a call saying hey Elders the meeting is canceled so we drove for about 2 and half hours to Cheyenne and back for no meeting haha fun!! So we just got an email we are going for a 3rd time and it is on Wednesday the 23rd this week so hopefully it will happen cause that is when I would receive the package.
Well also this week was crazy cause of that with all of our planing got all messed up but you just got to be flexible and move on sometimes. But good news we did find 3 new investigators it is a small family and they are supper nice and the reason they wanted to meet with us is cause they want to have better family morale's so i am very excited  to meet with them.
So Christmas day I will be calling you 1st to set things up with skype and that will be around 3:30 pm and we are going to be calling from a family house and their names are Aaron and Debra Condie nice young family to be with on that day for dinner and to call home.
Well hope all is well back at home!! See you all Christmas day!!

Much Love

Elder Urry

Letter #75 12-14-2015 Torrington Wyoming

Hey Everyone!!!
Well hope you all are doing well and having a fun Christmas season. This is a great time of year with Christmas and Thanksgiving so close to each other. I feel there is a reason for that and it is sad to say a lot of people look strait to Christmas. But I feel these two go together when we think of the true meaning of Christmas and the Savior being born that day and how grateful we should be for that.

If we had no Savior no Christ in our lives, this life wold be impossible. Jesus Christ has given us a path to follow and He has laid out a blue print of His church here on earth so we can know what we need to do to return with Him and live with our Heavenly Father again after this life.  There is a talk I really like that I read in study's this week it is called  "What Is the Blueprint of Christ’s Church?" By Elder Tad R. Callister. And it talks about where we can find this blue print and takes us all over the New Testament and things like that and it is so cool.
Well this week we did have J_ baptism on Saturday, it was a great service and I was excited to see all his family there supporting him in this decision he has made. It was really cool to see him get up and bare his testimony, and his favorite scripture with everyone which he did an amazing job with. So now we will be starting to do the new member lessons with him and we are trying to get someone his age to come with us each time so when we leave he will have people that he is comfortable around.
Well this week will be fun with the mission Christmas party and all and as we continue to try to see as much people as we can.

Much love

Letter #74 12-7-2015 Torrington Wyoming

Hey Everyone!!
 Well this week was interesting...

J_ baptism got move to the December 12, this coming Saturday, so that will be great. Mom, Torrington only has about 6 thousand people here but we cover a bunch of small towns around it so people come from all over. Our Church building has only been here 3 or 4 years and when they built it they put in 3 bishop offices so there must be revelation that a lot of work is here and just waiting to be found. A lot of that work is less active members, I mean there are 255-300 less active members here. We have been working with our investigator J_ who is planning to be baptized this coming Saturday.   His dad is also interested and wants to meet with us when thing settle down for him. We then have the M_ family who are slowly moving forward but will take some time. So there is a lot of good things going on, and good work is just slow sometimes which is not bad at all. We are here to invite and teach and help others grow in their faith in Jesus Christ, and most of the time just planting seeds for missionary's down the road.

Well the Ward Christmas party was fun and there was a good turn out there. I am always the life of every party mom! Haha. The Wisemans’ have done this every year for the past 5 years. He dresses up as Santa and bleaches his beard so it looks good.

Well transfers have come and gone again and me and Elder Pember are staying another transfer so this will be my 3rd transfer with him. Well hope you all have a great week!

Much love
Elder Urry

Letter #73 11-30-2015 Torrington Wyoming

Hey Everyone!!!!
This week was very fun and we had a good Thanksgiving. We had 2 Thanksgivings, one with dessert and one with out. But then we got invited over for 2 more desserts after that! Tell you what Thanksgiving next year we'll be easier on the stomach than the past 2 haha...way too much food!
Also our mission Christmas devotional is on December 16 so if you want me to get my package before Christmas I would have it here by then, then I would just pick it up there.

We had cool miracle this week I wanted to share with everyone. So on Tuesday night everything fell through that night and we were just trying to visit with anyone.  It was getting kind of late almost time to go home and me and Elder Pember were just thinking of anyone we could try and see. Elder Pember just said a name  kind of as a joke but then we thought about it for a second and the spirit told us we needed to go see this person, we had no idea why. His name is J_ G_ he is about a 24-year-old.  He is going through a really hard time, (but we didn’t know this at the time..) so to continue with what happened that night... We go and see him and we have no idea what's going on with him, but we decided to share a lesson on Charity and the Atonement of Jesus Christ with him. I was really proud of Elder Pember, he said “J_ I feel like I need to ask you is there anything we can do for you?” no real response.. but then he asked again, “J_ I feel like I need to ask you again is there anything we can do for you?”
And this time the spirit was really strong and he said “would you guys be willing to give me a priesthood blessing.” Obviously we said we would love to so we did and J_ asked me to  do the anointing and for Elder Pember to give the blessing. We placed our hands on his head and gave a simple blessing..
After we finished the blessing we did not have much time because it was getting late and we had to get home. After we got home I just felt like sending a text to J_ just saying that we are always here for you, we may not know what you're going through completely, but we know the Atonement works!  So if you ever need someone to talk to you have us and you have the P_ family.  It was at that point that he opened up and told us about what he's going through.  While at his home I had invited him to see Christ in his life, moments where he has seen His hand in his life.  After seeing his responding text, I felt I should challenge him to read The Mountains to Climb.  I promised him that he would feel peace after doing so.  So the next day when we saw him I asked him if he had taken some time to read, and he said yes, it had brought some peace, and he was so grateful for our visit and thanked us so much.

I know the Atonement works. I have seen it bless so many lives! It is amazing what the Lord has done for us and there's no greater joy than to share with people who are struggling, and see the light of hope in their eyes and faith that what they're doing is for the best so they can return Heavenly Father again!

Love you all!! Have a great week!

Letter #72 11-23-2015 Torrington Wyoming

Hey Everyone!!!

This is not just a job! As missionary's we have been called to serve others and teach others. One thing I have learned this week is, yes, we are called to teach people and serve others but is not all. We have to understand and respect people’s agency even when it is hard. Because when you serve others and are always thinking of others and not yourself you grow a love for people that becomes very deep. It’s not a love like husband and wife or boyfriend and girlfriend but something more powerful a love that is somewhat like the Savior has for us but not as great.
This week I had an experience were I have seen and felt in my heart what the Savior feels for us, each and every one of us and how great that love is for us. And I have felt a glimpse of the pain and sorrow He feels when we push away from Him and how much pain that can really cause. That pain comes partly from us not following Him but also from the deep love He has for us every last one of us. The Savior suffered bled and died and was resurrected just for us. I mean have you ever thought of this idea... what if you were the only one that ever existed on this earth and no one else had ever or would ever live upon the earth... "would He still do what He did?" Everyone who reads this before you go on STOP and think about that!

I have thought about this a lot I and I know with out a doubt in my mind that the answer is YES!! He would!  Mom, Dad, Alli, Eric, Steven, Brian, Paul, Vaughn, Rachel, Rachelle, and every last person that reads this letter... all your family and friends, your brothers and sisters, moms and dad, ever last person on this earth.. He has suffered and bled and all of this just for YOU no matter what you have done, to anyone or Him. No matter how bad you have messed up in your life He did this for you so one day when you enter into His presence you can feel clean and pure of heart and He will embrace you with loving arms.  All that is required of us is to go to Him and seek forgiveness and then do all you can to live your life to the best you know how.

Well hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving this week! We do have a meal with a family for Thanksgiving like last year so that will be fun. It is with the P_ family they are a very nice family and I am excited for it.
Also J_ our investigator will be getting baptized on December 5th so that is exciting, he is a 14 years old and lives here in Torrington.

Have a great week!

Letter #71 11-16-2015 Torrington Wyoming

Hey Everyone!!

Well this week has been a long, slow week for me. Monday my comp had his surgery and he is to do nothing till tomorrow after his check up with the Doctor so I have just been doing a lot of reading and sitting around and visiting with the members we live with this past week.

On Friday Brother Erickson asked if I would help him build his shed so that was a lot of fun.  We worked on it for about 3 hours and got 2 walls put up as well as some other things.  When he is done he wants it to look like a log cabin but it will depend on the weather when he will be able to get it done.
But ya this week was studies and then some nights I went on splits with another companionship, just one would go out and do work with me while the other would sit at the house with Elder Pember.
Well sorry for the short letter this week hope all is well with everyone.

Much love Elder Urry

PS mom hope your surgery went well. And for my package I could use a few new shirts it would be nice to get 3 new short sleeve and one new long sleeve shirt.

Letter #70 11-9-2015 Torrington Wyoming

Hey Everyone!!
Well it is Friday night right now and we just finished our day.  I just was thinking back to the beginning of my mission and I was thinking of how I was interacting with others. And I don't have any idea why but felt this week I needed to write you this and do it while it is fresh in my head.

Before my mission and in the beginning of my mission whenever I was having a hard time I would see a lot of what “they” were doing to hurt me even when they do not mean to all the time. And what they were doing wrong. Well tonight I was thinking of a missionary's purpose and that is...   "Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end."

Well as you see above I underlined “invite and others”. This is what we do all the time as missionary's cause when we invite in a loving Christ like way for people to do something most of the time they will do it. And trying in the right way to help someone become better is a good thing.  But we as people say,
"Well it makes me mad he/she does this!" or
"He or she needs to do more of this."
"Why can't they see all the things they do?"

Well I have to admit I have done all of these things, but how do we expect people to change and become better when we don't even look at what we may be doing wrong... Yes it is hard and it takes a bigger man to say I messed up I need to change here and do this. Because if we want people to change around us and treat us different as a person or have our friendship or Marriage or relationship improve, sometimes it takes humbling ourself and looking inward.  Sometimes we need to ask ourself", “what am I doing wrong to cause this..." Or  "what can I change to become better".
So humble yourself and don't be prideful and think it is their fault with what is going on.  In fact there is a quote in preach my gospel that says... "Pride is competitive; those who are prideful seek to have more and presume they are better than other people."  No one is better than anyone, we are all equal and not perfect or close to it. We all can change and show the pure love of Christ by changing flaws about us that are hurting our relationships with others before we start going and pointing out what others are doing wrong cause that is not our place.

God had only one perfect son and that is the Savior Jesus Christ who set the way for us. So I invite everyone who reads this letter to look at themselves to see what they can change before trying to change someone else, don't be a boss be a leader. And by that I mean a leader is down with everyone doing his part to get from point A to point B and working along side others. He is showing them by what he or she dose by example. A boss, on the other hand, is someone who sits in a chair and tells people what to do and what they need to change.
This is not the Saviors way, it is not how the Savior did it and it is not how we should do it either. Lead by example for others like the Savior did for YOU!!   I love you all hope you all have a great week!!

Love
Elder Urry

PS what would be a fun in a Christmas package is just written letters from everyone that can.  It’s so great just to hear how family and friends are doing. That is it really...maybe some money to get my suits dry cleaned...

Letter #69 11-2-2015 Torrington Wyoming

Hey everyone!!
Well this week has been very good and lots of fun with Halloween. On Monday we went to the Wisman’s for dinner so they had us come early to carve pumpkins and I have to say mine looks very good. We also had a breakfast on Saturday morning with all the missionary's in the stake and the stake presidency and there wives. So I got to meet them and they are very nice fun people. After the breakfast we had a fireside with every one there and it was really good. We talked about testimonies and how as missionary's they are the most powerful things to share with people and every opportunity we have we should share it!!  And not being afraid to do it. So yesterday was fast and testimony meeting so i did share mine and I am going share it now with all of you...

I know we have a Father in Heaven who loves us and He has a son by the name of Jesus Christ who also loves all of us more than we can even imagine. I know He loves us so much that He sent His son here to earth to show and lead us by His example.  He knew we would mess up and make mistakes so Jesus Christ performed the atonement and he descended below all things, so that we can repentant and be clean once
again. I also know, through His atonement we have someone there who knows what we are going through everyday and we can go talk to Him through prayer and He will help us. This is a true blessing we have because like in the scriptures no unclean thing can live with God again, so He knew we would not be prefect so Jesus Christ provided this for every one so one day we can become perfected in Him and through Him. These things I know to be true I have felt it! And I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

Friends and family I hope you all are doing well in what ever may be going on in your lives. I am blessed to know each and everyone of you! I love you all and miss you all too. But this is where I am suppose to be right now at this time. I only have 2 years to just focus 24/7 on others and on the Lords work and it is one of the hardest 2 years but one of the most rewarding 2 years.

Much love
Elder Urry

Scripture to ponderize this week
John 3: 15-17
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 ¶For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but
that the world through him might be saved.

Letter #68 10-26-2015 Torrington Wyoming

Hey Everyone!!

Well this week was planned to be a great week. My companion has a cyst on his tailbone and it is infected. The Doctors got the infection out at the hospital but he will be having surgery in about 2 weeks.  The surgery will put him out of service for about two week  so I did the math and the time I will spend studying during the 2 weeks, cause we will be doing splits every night, and one will just stay with him while I go out with members, but I will spend about 136 hours studying. But transfers are tomorrow and me and Elder Pember are staying right here for another 6 weeks so that is fun!

One thing I have not told you about this transfer is ever other Thursday we go do service at the zoo, and that is a lot of fun preparing and feeding all the animals there. What is really cool is how well the animals recognize the zoo keepers and when they come around even when it is not feeding time yet. But the last time we went I got to feed the lions and that was way cool and trust me they get hungry when it is time to eat hahaha!! 2 full grown male lions!!
One thing I just thought of is how the animals there know who the zoo keepers are... Well I feel when the day comes and we meet our Savior and Heavenly Father we will recognize them just as well. But something to think about.. is well we be excited to see them or will we be embarrassed to see them cause of all the things we have messed up on and not ask for forgiveness for and used what Jesus Christ preformed for us when he came here to earth??

Well hope you all have a fun week and are safe!

Much love
Elder Urry

PS Steve did Trisha show you up at surfing? And don't say it was to cold there hahaha. Also what part of California is she from, my comp is from there and was just wondering?

Letter #67 10-19-2015 Torrington, Wyoming

Hey Everyone!!!
Well this week was a tough week literally! Everything we had planned fell through other than our dinners haha! But for me all day Saturday I was wanting to be in Fort Collins because S_ (see picture below), who I was teaching while I was there, got baptized. I was so happy for him but so sad I missed it. He is a fantastic man and such a nice man when we were teaching him. But I did get a photo from the Zone Leaders there that were at the baptism so I will be sending that home today.
Ok well something crazy happen this week! So there is this young couple  M_ and C_ J_, in this ward. One night this week we go over there to pick up some things for my companion and Chase's mom and sister were in town. We were head out the door and she told us to just wait one second. I was like ok, and she wanted to give us money for a night we dont have a dinner appointment or just to have some extra food at the house. So 99% of the time people will give us $20 and that is $10 for each of us and they do it cause they cant have us over in there home to feed us. Well she was talking to us about how her son was taken care of so well on his mission and she wanted to do the same thing. So she gives us each $50 and I was like really!!! You don't need to give us this much we can just split one of them. But she told us no I am giving the missionary's $100 and just count it as a blessing. I said thank you so much cause she would not take it back and just let us split the 50. So that is what happened. Well I will send the photo home too but not much happen this week it was a hard week but we are going to go after it this next week!!

Much Love Elder Urry

Letter #66 10-12-2015 Torrington, Wyoming

Hey everyone!!
This week has been so crazy with all that is going on here! We are super busy right now cause not only do we have a lot of people to see but we finally got the iPad planner app so everything can be done on the iPad's, so whenever there is free time we are transferring all records and everything in the area book to the iPad.
The area book goes back to 2012 so it is a LOT of info we have to type into our iPads. And one thing I have come to know is I was not put on this earth to use technology haha!! So we will be doing this for the next month or so.
Well this week we set our investigator J_ on date for baptism on November 7 2015. And I don't know if you remember me talking about S_, I was teaching him in Fort Collins but I heard from the zone leaders down there that he is getting baptized this Saturday and I am super excited for him!! I wish I could be there though, but is was fun to hear.
This week we also had interviews with President Brown, and mine was really short like 5 minutes max that is all it took. And just from what he said I think I will be here in Torrington for a while. It won't be 6 weeks and out I think or hope. It’s crazy also to think I only have 3 interviews left and he and I go home :(  Cause interviews are every other transfer and the departing interview on your last transfer too. Well enough about that, time for the really cool experience this week.

So every Friday in our mission each companionship plans and prepares for the next week. We both knew we still had some family's and were trying to decide when we should see them. There is this one less active family, named the W_ that live about 15 minutes away and we have only seen them once. We both felt like we needed to go see them Sunday night. So we put them down for Sunday at 7pm.
Yesterday, it seemed every thing was going longer then planned and we still felt we need to go see this family. So we finally left for their home about 730 pm. It was not a set appointment so we were never late. We got there and they let us in. And just so you know living there is the grandma and grandpa there son and then his son. When we got there the grandson and his dad were gone so we talked with grandma and grandpa and everything seemed like it was going great until they got a phone call. S_ their grandson who is about 13 years old was the one who called, he said one of his friends was over and they were riding their horses, she got kicked full on right in the chest about 530 pm that afternoon and was taken to the Emergency room.
That phone call was to let the grandparents know what was going on.  The Doctors found out she had a bruised liver and was bleeding internally.  After that call the grandparents told us everything that had happen that day. Then they ask if they could hear a message and asked Elder Pember to say the opening prayer. During that I had this feeling to share this Mormon message called “bearing our burdens with hope”, but I had no idea what I would relate this to or how to talk about it until the last part of the video and that is when S_ and his dad got back.  It was then I knew why everything was running late cause if we had come at 7 we would not of seen them. I related this video and how in the end it was talking about the Atonement and how it can help with what was going in their lives right then.
I wish I could repeat what was said in that room but all I remember is how strong the spirit was there at that time. And after the lesson I felt like I should  ask S_ if he would like a blessing and he did so we placed our hands on his head and in the name of the Lord, gave him a blessing of comfort. After that his grandpa looked at both of us and said "I don't know what made you guys think of coming over here tonight but you picked the perfect time to do so, we needed this and we needed the spirit you have brought into our home tonight."
I know the spirit leads us to where the Lord wants us be He knew on Friday, when we were planning our week to have us see the W_ for that reason. And I know this is no coincidence, cause I have seen this many times over on my mission.
We will not see people unless the Lord wants us to.  Things we plan may fall through but in the end we will see who the Lord needs us to see. I know this is true, like I said I have seen it over and over. And I bare my testimony of this and leave it with you in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

Well everyone hope you have a great week!!

Love

Elder Urry

Letter #65 10-5-2015 Torrington, Wyoming

Hey everyone!
So mom is going to check the inside of the walls because the wood might be going bad and getting wet? What is going on at home? But I do guess that depends how much water got through to the wood.... Looks like it's been a crazy week at home. But something should be coming in the mail for Paul I sent it about a week ago it was a postcard from Fort Collins of the place where we went hiking.
Well you told me Eric had his first full game how do you do Eric?
Also Kyson good job you paid more attention than me to conference when I was your age and watching at home.  ha ha!
Conference was really good this week lots of good talks.  I feel like my take was a lot on how to become a better person while living on this earth but not being of the world and staying on this path,  so we can return and live with our Heavenly Father again someday. One of the talks I really liked was by Elder D. Todd Christofferson. The things I really got out of that was pretty interesting just how he was talking about the reason we go to church and have church every Sunday instead of just having faith and living by that. We go to church, one, for the sacrament and, two, to learn from others but we also go to have others help us become stronger in the gospel because one person by themselves is not as strong as a bunch of people together.
Well it was pretty cool to see three new apostles called.  I was so impressed with Elder Gary E Stevenson talk he gave back in April 2014 conference entitled Our Four Minutes, I am really excited to hear more from him in the coming years.
That talk has just stuck out to me ever since and is one of the best talks to use to relate to the plan of salvation and the three questions people have a lot, first,
Where did we come from?
We can use this talk to relate the pre-earth life in how Olympic athletes take so much time before the Olympics to train and become the best they can be in their event.
Why are we here?
Here on earth is our time to perform in the “Olympics” of life and to try to achieve that gold medal. Which is to live with our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ again.
Where are we going?
And here we have achieved what we learned in the “Spiritual Olympics” and we will have to live with that forever.

That is just kind of a summary of what we would talk about with people we are teaching and it usually helps makes things pretty clear with the plan of salvation.  Well hope you all have a good week can't wait to hear from you next week.

Much love
Elder Urry

Ps I invite you all to do the “ponderizing” thing starting today doing 1 scripture a week putting it where you can read it a lot that day and then in 3 months or so when I call on Christmas we can talk about what has come from that!
So will you do that?

My 1st one is 1 Nephi 3:7

“And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.”

Letter #64 9-28-2015 Torrington, Wyoming

Hey everyone!
Well this week was hard but successful at the same time because a lot of things fall through, mainly like appointments. But the appointments we did have were very good! One of those appointments was on Friday night with the C_ family. They are a less active family in the ward and having a hard time with some of their beliefs. But that is very normal for a lot of people because we all do struggle with our beliefs some time or another and we have  questions. One of the things we talked about was enduring to the end and how that can be very hard sometimes in this life because this life is a life of test. That is why we have the Savior and His Atonement, without that this Life would be much much harder!
But we did have a really good talk and they are just struggling as a family. This is hard for me to see, and the best thing we can do is be there for them, show that we care and that we want the best for them. To be honest they just opened up to both of us which was really good.  That way we can know the best way to help them. One thing I have learned as a missionary is that to help someone doesn't always necessarily mean sharing the gospel with them.
Sometimes it just takes knowing that they have a friend who can be there for them and care about them that can make the difference. One thing I've always really thought about, and what I asked my brothers about is the term “dropping people”. As missionaries we are called to invite others to Christ, and to help build their faith and testimony in whatever faith they already do have. When I see we have enough time in a week to be able to see someone, even if they don’t seem interested at the moment, and still be able to do all the work we need to do as missionaries then I don’t feel it is necessary to take them off our list. The Savior still wants them to be loved and cared about, if at this time they are not interested does not mean they don’t need to be cared about. The reason I say that is because I just think of what the Savior would do and I don't think your job is done just because someone is not interested in what we have to say.  We want to love them and care about them even more and be there for them for anything because if we just stop seeing them, there will never be change. Charity and love we can learn to show in many different ways and I feel the most important way is friendship and trust in that friendship.
Throughout my life I have always been one to share what I believe but in the end I truly do believe in agency and will love the person no matter what, even when I might not necessarily agree with what they do. But when it comes to religion, and we have different views, I am happy for them because in the end we all have the same goal which is to live with our Savior, and Heavenly Father again.  But in the end no matter what religion someone is, we need to always loves them and show them that we are there for them during hard and good times and be quick to forgive.
I have learned, on my mission to forgive quickly, because when you do forgive others, and truly forgive The Lord blesses you. Trust me this can be very hard! In this last transfer I decided to email the companion that I really didn't get along with, I just talked to him in that email, and just told him that I wish I could go back and change some of the things that happened. I told him that i was sorry for what I did and just for the things that happen. I don't hold anything against him either, with things I may have not liked at that time. And once I did this we have emailed every week and talked to each other.   This week he even called me and we are slowly but surely becoming friends because we have forgotten the past.
The one thing I've learned here is be the bigger man when something is going on and be the first to forgive and forget. Trust me this is a lot harder said than done.  For the first time I have really just opened up.... just now... and told you what's in my heart. Charity and love are the two most important things to me because when we have a friend who cares for us and is always there for us it is the best feeling in the world. For most of us, or should i say a lot of us, we always have our family who are there for us and that is extremely important but having a friend too makes things even greater.

Much love

Letter #63 9-21-2015 Torrington, Wyoming

Hey Everyone!!!
Well another fast week has gone by!! Looks like a lot of fun things at home. Mom I did send a package home this week so I did use my card for that. Well Torrington is very small but a nice town and lots of fun people. On Saturday was the ward rodeo out at Brother Wilkins ranch. And everyone had to make there own stick horse for racing with them and all. They also brought out 2 small goats for the primary kids there were 3 races with kids close to the same age, and the 1st kid to catch the goat and get the dollar won the race and then they kept their dollar, that was a lot of fun to watch! And it was one fun night where I got to meet more of the ward. Most of the guys in the ward with in the next few months will be taking 1 week to 2 week trips for hunting cause this ward is huge into hunting no matter what they get drawn for. Each person will put in for up to 5 different hunts they want to go on and their wife will put in for a few sometimes also, Alli time for you to get a tag hahaha.
So for the past few months the church really has focused on church attendance and reading The Book of Mormon and praying all the time! And this is so important. Take anything you do and become great at doing the basics...how much better are you going to be at what ever your doing. And when things become hard and handling it is very hard, might mean you have stopped doing the basics, like reading and praying. I’m not saying that things are bad cause your not reading the Book of Mormon and praying, sometimes things are just hard.  What I am saying is that how we handle it will be better if we are doing the spiritual basics. Well the basics in the church like reading and praying need to be a daily thing and going to church every Sunday as well. Now just like in what we do in day to day life we need to apply the basics in the gospel so when we read and go to church we need to apply what we have learned and try to become better at it every day!
Well just want to add one more thing I have notice through my mission with the areas I have been called to, every area I feel like I was suppose to meet someone the Lord wants me to meet.
But one thing I have seen with this being my 4th area on my mission is, every time I go to a new place, when I get there, there is a lot of help or service needed in the ward or place I am serving.
I hope all is well and you all have a great week!!

Letter #62 9-14-2015 Fort Collins Colorado

Hey Everyone!!
Well I got all the photos and videos and they all work on the iPad so keep sending them they are a lot of fun to see. Well it was quick here in Fort Collins, 1 transfer and I am heading out only 6 weeks here. I am going back to Wyoming but not close to my last area there I am going to Torrington, Wyoming (BACK TO A SMALL TOWN) it is a ways out of Cheyenne but that is where I am closest to! Also I am 2nd transfer training a missionary cause new missionary's are trained for 12 weeks so I have been ask to do the second 6 weeks. So that will be nice now I will be back to doing 3 hour study's instead of 2.
Well this week was pretty good. S_ did fall through but he is excited for this week to meet with us, we'll the 2 new missionary's coming cause me and my comp are leaving. Last night was really cool so we had dinner with the Simpson family. They had their friend T_ over who is not a member of the church but has been looking into church's. He wants Christ more in his life cause of some of the things he has felt and gone through during his life. So during dinner we all just talked and hung out and during that time I felt I should do the lesson on the Plan of Salvation which is about Gods plans and his goals for us...so we can make it back and live with Him someday. Well we shard the lesson and I don't know but, the longer I am out the more powerful the spirit seems to get when we are teaching someone. At the end I invited T_ to take the missionary discussions and what he said kinda hit me hard cause I have never heard someone say this to us while on my mission but he said, "Elder Urry I just want to say thanks for what you guys do and I want to thank you for loving me enough to invite me to do these things and yes if you guys can make time for me I would love to." Well when he said this it was so unexpected and I did not see it coming and it was cool to hear him say. I never really thought about how much this can mean to people and it felt good to hear and made my testimony grow on how great this gospel can be and for the people that decided to hear. Its so great to see the change in their eyes and the desire to want to change is so humbling and it all happens when I see the spirit touch them. They feel the spirit, and most of the time when this happens I ask what they are feeling before we go on to any other point. This work can not be done without the spirit of the Lord cause our words are just words anyone can say but they become powerful when the spirit is there and that is when change happens in the heart for people!!
Well love and miss you all hope you have a great week this week with anything going on back home!!

Much love Elder Urry

PS Happy birthday Steven Brian and Eric!!!

Letter #61 9-7-2015 Fort Collins Colorado

Hey Everyone!!
Well this week was great I don't know where to start,... to tell ya the truth. Well last week the zone leaders gave us a referral whose name is S_.  They found him at their
apartment which is in our area, so to hand him off to us, we went on splits with them. Elder Palmer and I went and gave him a lesson and Elder Roberson and Elder Snelders went and saw other people. Now we have seen Scott twice including that appointment. And to tell you a little about him he is big into art. He use to design the movie posters for movies and all of that so that is pretty cool.
Well remember when I was back in Sterling teaching G_ and the spirit was so strong at those lessons? Well its the same with S_ and teaching him. And family, my testimony on members at lessons grew so much this week because they can help so much as a member when missionary's prepare them for the lesson and the member
understands that they are there to help in any way but not take over the lesson and then to fellowship.
The Heiser’s were perfect this week and helped S_

out so much! I would invite you all, if the missionary's are teaching someone back there at home, to invite them to do
the lessons every so often in your home, and for those who have served a mission I’m sure you know what I am talking about!! You may never know the impacted you may have on them and the missionary's for that matter.
I remember reading a talk or hearing this some where but it goes something like missionary's and members are the same church they are not 2 separate church's we as missionary's can't do this with out you and you can't do it without missionary's.

Well also this week we went and helped an older lady in the ward with Brother Windsor. We chopped some wood and we had so much fun doing that. It made me think back when I went with your family, Vaughn, to get wood. I also told them about that one time I went with you guys.

Well this week was so much fun and I could write so much more but don't have much time. Well love you all so much.

PS: time is going fast so enjoy where you are at now cause before you know it, it well be all over!!

Much love Elder Urry

Letter #60 8-31-2015 Fort Collins Colorado

Hey Everyone!!!
Well sounds like a crazy week back at home. And Holy Cow!!! Lily is getting so big!!! Well this week was a good week for us and me especially.  So back when I was in Sterling I was called to be a district leader and that was all good and just learning how to be a leader.
Well at the end of last transfer I was ask to do it again this transfer. And this transfer I have gone to the Lord so much for help with what I should do in how to be a good leader for the district I am over, and how I can best help them cause everyone except my comp is older than me in mission time and they have been out longer.
Three of the missionary's excluding me and my comp go home before Halloween and one goes home September 15th when this transfer ends. And that can be hard sometimes for missionary's to have someone over them when they have been out longer and things like that. The best way I have found to being a leader is leading by example. And going to the Lord in help in everything, so I just love and care for the people the Lord asks me to help. Well a lot of these things are easier said than done.

This week was one of the hardest things I have had to do, a missionary in my district has had an iPhone that we did not know about. And he justified having this cause he lost his iPad. And this is not safe because the iPads in the mission are all protected and president can have control over them and also on the iPad you can't delete history. What ever you do president will see the next time he looks at your iPad. So all these things the iPad has the iPhone he had does not. So I had to talk to him to send it home and get rid of it. And that was kinda hard cause he was upset and did not want to send it home but he is going to today.

So this week I was studying a talk and this paragraph stuck out to me...

King Benjamin, we learn what we can do to take us to that safe place. But remember: the things we do are the means, not the end we seek. What we do allows the Atonement of Jesus Christ to change us into what we must be. Our faith in Jesus Christ brings us to repentance and to keeping His commandments. We obey and we resist temptation by following the promptings of the Holy Ghost. In time our natures will
change. We will become as a little child, obedient to God and more loving. That change, if we do all we must to keep it, will qualify us to enjoy the gifts which come through the Holy Ghost. Then we will be safe on the only sure rock.

I just really like this cause it talks about change of heart and the importance of really Changing and become better.

Much love

Elder Urry

Letter #59 8-25-2015 Fort Collins Colorado

Hey Everyone!!
Mom happy Birthday!!!!!!! Hey Kyson man I want to see you when I get home buddy so don't do crazy things like that man! Haha And dad that is crazy what happen to your plane.
Well the reason for writing today instead of yesterday is cause yesterday we had a mission conference with everyone and Elder Jorge F. Zeballos Of the Seventy he spoke in last conference his talk was "If you will be responsible." Well before I talk about that he wanted to get photos with each of the zones in the mission. And for those who don't know what zones are, there is the mission which is the Fort Collins Colorado mission then there are zones and there are 9 zones in this mission and I am in the Fort
Collins zone right know. Well after that photo he wanted to meet each of us and say hi and know where we are from. So I go through the line and he is getting everyone's name for the most part but then I get to him and shake his hand and his first words are "oh boy ummmm" hahaha did not let me tell him for a minute or two then he is like "ok tell me I give up" haha. But was a supper nice man and same with his wife.
So before this meeting we were ask to study his last talk from conference and chapters 2 and 4 of preach my gospel to help prepare for this meeting. Well most of it was on being prepared and following the spirit and being responsible. And what really stood out to me is a story our mission president told.
So he said, one day he was going to go with the missionary's in this area to teach a lesson to a investigator and that morning he read chapters 10 and 11 of Ether. And then he was done and he had things to do to get ready for the day. He then felt he should keep reading and he is like no I have stuff to do, this happened like 4-5 times and each time the prompting got stronger and stronger. Well he went on with his day and did not read on. That night came and he went out with the missionary's to this appointment and they were coming to the end of this appointment and Brother S_, the man they were teaching said "how can the Book of Mormon be the word of God with the way they write, God would never like this." So they tried to answers Brother S_ question, but had a hard time. That night ended and the next day President Brown started to read again and finds out he should have kept reading cause Ether 12:23-26 would have answered Brother S_ question perfectly. Here are the verses...

  23 And I said unto him: Lord, the Gentiles will mock at these things, because of our weakness in writing; for Lord thou hast made us mighty in word by faith, but thou hast not made us mighty in writing; for thou hast made all this people that they could speak much, because of the Holy Ghost which thou hast given them;
24 And thou hast made us that we could write but little, because of the awkwardness of our hands. Behold, thou hast not made us mighty in writing like unto the brother of Jared, for thou madest him that the things which he wrote were mighty even as thou art, unto the overpowering of man to read them.
25 Thou hast also made our words powerful and great, even that we cannot write them; wherefore, when we write we behold our weakness, and stumble because of the placing of our words; and I fear lest the Gentiles shall mock at our words.
26 And when I had said this, the Lord spake unto me, saying: Fools mock, but they shall mourn; and my grace is sufficient for the meek, that they shall take no advantage of your weakness;

And he said after reading these verses,  he felt so bad for not listening to those promptings and going on and just reading some more.
But here we can learn as Missionaries when we study to go by the spirit in what to study, listen to the promptings of the spirit and follow them, cause then you will be prepared for the day and be able to help others in the way the Lord needs you to help.
Well much love

Elder Urry

Letter #58 8-17-2017 Fort Collins Colorado

Hey Everyone!
Sorry for the late email. We went on a 7 mile hike today and we started at 6 a.m. so we could get there and see some deer and try to see a mountain lion and a black bear. Well we saw about 30 deer and 4 of them were bucks. We were getting to the end of the hike and we were down by the water falls and river. We are just resting and talking and Elder Tapia and I were just talking and Elder Tapia started going crazy but like quiet cause  about 100 yards from us on the other side of the river we saw a black bear and that made my hike!! You will see the photos when I send them to you after I’m done writing this letter to all of you. But this was one of my favorite Pday hikes of the mission.

Well zone conference was good there was a lot of missionary's giving there departing testimonies that I have gotten to know in the first year of my mission so that is kinda hard cause I will miss them a lot. But zone conference was on chapters 2 and 4 of preach my gospel and the chapters are on how to study effectively.  We also discussed how to recognize the spirit and receive answers to our prays and all of these go hand in hand with each-other. If you want to have a good study in the scriptures you need the spirit, if you want to find answers you need to read and listen to what the spirit is telling to do or to learn. But when we ask the Lord for help or guidance we need to be willing to act on the answers we will receive.

Also this week we went on exchanges with Elder Greer and Elder Shields who I served with right after I was done serving with Elder Torres. He is going home in 4 months so that is crazy for Elder Torres. But it was really good! Me and Elder Greer were able to find a new investigator for their area.  We just stopped and visited with a girl who was outside when we were biking. We just started by introducing ourselves and saying we were pretty new to the area and what are some cool things around here to do? From there we got to know her and were able to talk about the gospel, just kinda became friends first and then started talking about the gospel. People are more willing to talk when they see you are interested in them and what they have to say and not just on what you have to say.

But ya this week has been a crazy week!! Well love and miss you all hope you have a great week and Paul thanks for the post card they were cool!!
