Letter #104 7-4-2016 Gering, Nebraska

Hey Everyone!!
Well, my second to last week here in the mission and we got T-boned this week!! It was at an intersection with no stop or yield signs.  We were already in the intersection and a woman hit the back passenger side, so my side, and it spun us around and the other side of the car hit a poll, but we were all ok. But ya it was crazy.

Well this week I found out there will be no temple trip before I return home because the Denver Temple is closed:( So I would just say when we come for the Fort Collins open house in a month that we can do a session then.  There is a family who moved to Denver during my mission, so possibly we will be able to see them as well.

Obviously we have had no car this week and it has been a hard week. I feel like the Lord has been testing my diligence in the work. Just with a lot of things coming and circumstances that aren’t appropriate to talk about over an email.  Nothing bad has happen, just not meant for my email home. I have just been praying for strength to finish strong and do what needs to be done in a loving way.

Well we did see A_ this week and it was all about temples and eternal marriage which she can not wait for that day to happen and be able to go into the Temple, I’m so excited for her too.

Well hope you all have a good week.

Much love

Letter #103 6-27-2016 Gering, Nebraska

Hey Everyone!
Well I got my flight itinerary this morning. I will leave Denver at 7:25am my time 6:25am your time. I will be going to Salt Lake City, Utah and get there at 9am, then I will have a two hour lay over and I will leave there at 11:08am. I land at Sky harbor at 11:45am. I am surprised I am not flying straight home but it is ok.

Well we get our new mission president on Friday this week and we will be having a zone conference next week on the 5th so we can meet him, which will be nice. If things stay the same on that Friday, the 8th I should get to go down with the missionary's going home with me and go to the Denver Temple. The mission president and his wife would go as well, but we shall see if that’s what the new mission president wants to do. If we do that it will take my entire day.  I would love to go to the Temple cause I have not been to the temple since I was in the MTC.

Well this week we did have E_ baptism, and we had a great turn out. It was really cool I was fortunate enough to get to have a baptism this close to coming home. I see it as a blessing cause this one was in the Lords time for sure and it was when E_ was ready and not for me, all that matters is it was in the Lords timing. Yesterday was cool during the confirmation cause Elder Navarro said it in Spanish so E_ family could understand him.

Yesterday A_ came to church as well which was great she is doing so well!!! She has such a strong spirit about her and her faith is so strong too.  It is really cool to see how fast she has progressed.

Well hope you all have a good week this week!!

Ps mom could you send the recipe to Sister Delcamp again she think she deleted it by accident? Well the next email I send I will be 21 years old!

Letter #102 6-20-2016 Gering, Nebraska

Hey Family!!
Well it has been cool hearing about the Mortensen’s getting ready to go on their mission.  It is interesting because I am also seeing and hearing about President Brown finishing up with his mission and the things he has learned.

At our Zone Conference, the last hour was a question and answer with President Brown and his wife. He wanted to do this because of a question a missionary had asked at his final interview.  When he was counseled as a Mission President he was told that missionaries would come to him seeking advice on what they should do about certain situations in their lives, and especially as they are returning home.  He was counseled to turn them “to the Lord every time."

This really does help, I mean he give us counsel but it would be from the scriptures or asking us what we feel we need to do. He would not be telling us what to do every time so we can learn and grow.

Also he was able to give me my departing interview and that was really good! We were together about 45 minutes, talking about setting goals to finish my mission and we talked about things that I want to do when I get home. But it was super nice to have.

Well I am excited for this week E_ is getting baptized on Saturday, and he has asked me to baptize him so that will be awesome!

Well I don't have to much more this week to say I hope you all have a good week! Things are going well here!!

Much love

Letter #101 6-13-2016 Gering, Nebraska

Hey Everyone!!!

Holy Cow!! Time is just getting faster and faster as I get closer to coming home. I mean this week we have zone conference and that will be saying goodbye to President Brown cause he is going home on the 1st of July which is 2 weeks from Friday.  I will also be giving my departing testimony at zone conference cause that is what you do at your last one. The entire mission and trainings are helping prepare for the new mission president who will take over on the 1st of July. So some crazy things going on and lots of excitement as well as sadness in the mission with President Brown going home. But change is always good. Also the Delcamp family in the ward here have signed up for my birthday dinner. If you are sending anything for my birthday send it there and mom you can text her and ask for their address.

So yesterday in church this quote stuck out to me...    "A good friend will accept you the way you are but never leave you the way he found you." And it made me think a lot about true friends for all of us. The last part, never leave you the way they found you, well we need to think about that when we pick our friends in life.  When we pick our closest friends will they make you become a better person or not. Now this does not mean to think you are better than everyone in life and no one can help you become better cause we can improve everyday.
What this is saying to me is will your friends help you improve or will it be just up to you to improve or will they try to drag you down. We all want to become better and we can't do it on our own we need friends and family who will lift us up so we can become better. We also need to help lift others as well cause when you do that you will also become better in life. I feel we all do the most growing when we don't think about ourselves and we turn outward to others. I would invite you all to watch the Mormon message LIFT it talks about turning outward and how that helps us.

Well this week we had another lesson with A_ and we talked a lot about change and how every one can change and have a change of heart. She said she does not think her boyfriend will ever change and want to get married or start coming back to church. So I felt to go to Alma 32:27-30 and I asked her the 1st day we knocked on your door how did you feel about the church? She said "there is no way I would ever join." Then I said what do you think now? She said "I want to be baptized and I know it is true." Then i felt to ask when we 1st talked how did you feel about ever marrying S_, her boyfriend? She said "H...LL NO I never wanted to marry again!" Then I asked her, how do you feel now, she said "I want to be married to him for eternity in the temple."
After that we talked about this scripture and how there has been a seed planted in her heart and how it is growing, her heart has been changing as she has been coming closer to Christ in faith. Then I asked her why couldn’t this happen with S_ over time? And then I said, “out of every person you will meet you will have the biggest impacted on him as you share and set the example for him and share what you have been learning and feeling.  As you do this you will hit a spark that helps him remember what he used to feel and have when he was going to church and reading and things.” So it was amazing and we invited her to start sharing things more with him and what she is feeling and going through right now.

Well hope you all have a good week!

Letter #100 6-6-2016 Gering, Nebraska

Hey Everyone.

This week was a good week. We found a new guy we are starting to work with him, his  name is B_.  Our 1st visit was about the Temple open house and what that is and what a temple is. He is a big rancher and runs his own place. He owns about 10 sections of land which I can't remember how much land that it but it is a lot. He runs it all by himself and that is his plan to always run it by himself so he will work to make it grow until it is as much as he can do on his own. He is such a nice guy and has gone through a lot in his life. And we feel we will probably teach the plan of salvation 1st cause of what he has gone through that will help a lot.

Also we did see A_ this week and had Brother and Sister Baird with us for this lesson, it was about being married and eternal family's. This lesson had such a strong spirit in it!  It was so amazing and half way through there was a silence for a few minutes and that is when the spirit can teach to the heart.  Then A_ said "....it is True! I believe and feel it is true there is no more denying that!" Then she just bore her testimony and we invited her to be baptized and she really wants to. So that is exciting.

On Saturday early in the morning we went running with Brother Rawlings up the Scottsbluff National Monument.  This run is about 1.6 miles up so all in all a little over 3 mile run.   We had a good time just to visit with him about all kinds of things and it made the run go by faster than normal. It is a such wonderful view from the top looking around and seeing all the history sites from up top so it was way cool.

Well hope you all have another good week. And mom I did get the forms but I hope can find someone I can have help me print it from my iPad cause I can't get on my email from a computer cause it has been a long time from the last time I logged in so I don't remember my password.

Much love

Letter #99 5-30-2016 Gering Nebraska

Hey Everyone!!
Well transfers are tomorrow and I will be staying here for my last 6 weeks with Elder Navarro. Well yesterday A_ came to church and it was fantastic!!  The Stake President, President Brown came and he was teaching 5th Sunday discussion. He just opened it up and asked what do you all want to learn about? We went over a lot on temple and conversion witch was so great for A_ to hear and learn about.  After the meetings she came up and talked to him for like 30 minutes. He was able to cover a lot of things with her and some of the concerns she had and just talked to her. And at the end President Brown said "when you get baptized this summer will you invite me?" Keep in mind we have not invited her or set her on date yet, and she said I don't know if that will happen, then he said it will just watch.  Then  said "in a year from now when you go to the temple to be married will you invite me?" She thinks that won't happen cause of things from the past, but wow the spirit was so strong there!!!

Well I am looking forward to this transfer there is a lot going on these next 6 weeks and it will go way too fast I know that!!! Just look at my entire mission and how fast that has gone. I definitely don't feel like what I thought I would feel like at this time. And that is a
good thing.

Much love
